The Media on Lou Dobbs Complaining About … The Media
Yesterday, I watched a half hour of CNN with closed captioning, as I often do while I move my arms and legs back and forth elliptically at the gym. It’s my only real exposure to TV news anymore, and usually provides a great update on how fancy and weird TV graphics are getting. Yesterday, however, there was a report on the unfolding story of Tim Mahoney, democrat and professional scandalist.
Diana West, syndicated columnist (who looked like she was straight out of an At Home issue of LIFE from the 50s), was asked to give her input as an official contributor and talking head, and went on to complain repeatedly about how this story is being ignored by the media — WHILE SHE WAS ON CNN.
From the transcript:
This doesn’t raise the same radar in the media however, even though we’re talking about it here. There’s no real ginned up upset. Similarly you know the Republicans were trounced for all kinds of economics malfeasants but we have Charlie Rangel in New York not generating any kind of waves about Democratic problems. Again, it’s a very strange political season and, again, I think it’s media dereliction.
Diana West writes a syndicated weekly column and apparently has little command of logic or reality. She wrote a book with Arrested Development in the subtitle, which would give her bonus points if she were talking about the TV show, but instead she’s talking about the “death of the grown up” in America, so minus a thousand points instead.
