Finding Yourself on Google
The NY Times has an article today about how the Internet has brought a new social circle to light: people who share the same name and therefore a connection of sorts. For some people, it is a far stronger bond than might be expected. It’s a nice article, relates the trend to social science research that backs up the theory of humans as supremely self-obsessed and suggests that people who share the same name may share experiences and personality traits. Well, that’s all well and good, but what do you do if you don’t have any other people to share this with? As quite possibly the only Deepthi Welaratna in the world, I feel lonely and unformed, with nowhere for my ego-driven obsession to reflect onto.
